"If you trade for a player, the round he can be kept at is the round he was drafted the previous year."

is the answer I've been given.

of course, if you pick up a player in FA, to keep him it costs you your lowest draft pick.

just ask Jake... ;-)

how did you acquire edwards?

if it was from waivers (ie, not a trade with another player) it'll cost you your 22nd or somethingth pick. your lowest pick.

if you traded for edwards, your looking at the round he was drafted in, ie a second.

from what i can see.

THE DRAFT

I'm interested to hear what people suggest about how we run the draft this year.

From what I understand, very few people participated in the draft last year, which makes it all a bit shit.

This year, as far as I can tell, we have two options.

1) Run a live draft. Probably the weekend of August 30th (the last possible weekend), probably at about 12midday (9pm for Jake). Will people be around? Will people remember? Which is better, saturday or sunday?

or

2) Run an offline draft. This would involve people choosing their player via Reply All email. People would get 24 hours to make their pick, or they get the next best player available. However, if people know they will miss a pick, they can obviously, leave a suggestion. This will mean that each person will pick probably every 4/5 days, but people will need to check their emails regularly (at least twice a day really). I can also send a text warning when your "on the clock". However, it only takes one or two rubbish people to really slow this down very significantly.

Running an email draft will probably only get us to about the 10th round, by September, so we'll have to do the less important rounds online one evening. This will have to be done via MSN, which could get very interesting!!!

What do people think of the two ideas?

My vote is go for the 1 pick a day draft, and then use the single day format for all the left over picks if required.

Now, as my participation was poor last year, can someone help me out with how this thing is scored?? I need to decide on my keepers!! What positions are best? Sufficed to say though, I think I'll be forced to let the Lions D/ST go.

1 pick a day isn't going to cut it!

If you log in and have a look at your team you should be able to look at their points total for last year.

we have about 320 picks to get through in 62 days.

in total, we need to get at least 3/4 picks in a day for it to be succesful. and everyone has to do it in the correct order. and we need to bear in mind that we could end up waiting a while for jake every time its his pick.

I didn't mean literally 1 pick a day - I meant start with the daily e-mail picks, and then it will reduce what we need to do for the final day draft

thats what i think to be honest, get the main picks out of the way now. starting july 1st.

but then we'll have to do the final day draft over MSN or something. ESPN wont let you do half live, half offline.

is there a way of changing my team name? I can't find an option (I might be dense), and as much of a personal wet dream as "Team Lilley" is, "The Lilley Factor" would be substantially better...

Go to my team, then edit team settings... Surely you're some kind of computer programmer?

QBs, RBs and WRs score the most points.

And Hank Baskett for Braylon Edwards? :?
