The Sabres play in the Central Division of the British Universities American Football League (www.buafl.net) and play an 8 game regular season running from November to February against teams from and outside of their division. The Sabres are ranked amongst the very best teams in the North of England and are perennial National Play-Off contenders. The season also features an annual Varsity game against friendly but bitter cross-town rivals, the Sheffield Hallam Warriors, against whom the Sabres have not lost a game for 3 years.

The Sabres have a reputation as the most professional sports club at the University of Sheffield in terms of their organisation and success both on and off the field, new players will be joining one of the best set-ups in University sport.

The team plays hard both on and off the field. The club has 2 dedicated Social Secretaries who work to organise social activities such as nights out, pub crawls, paint balling and last but not least, a varied social calendar with the University Cheerleading Squad – the Sabrecats.

Socials are also a great way of getting to know the other guys on the team and helping to build a sense of team spirit.

The club Committee and Coaches try to build the best University experience possible for our players through the clubs activities both on and off the field, something that the clubs graduating players and extensive Old Boys organisation would no doubt confirm.
